Decisions, decisions

So, heres the thing. When I was growing up I was fed with the ideas of one day waking up and meeting my prince charming. All the movies, books, and even Carrie Bradshaw told me – he’s out there. The one. You will meet a man and just know, deep down, that this is more than just love.
The next step, is drama. Whenever us ladies feel like we have (finally) met that person, drama always seems to follow. From dates gone wrong to other people interfering in the relationship – something always needs to go down before we get our happily ever after. (Which raises the question with me; should that happily ever after be presented as an end goal? As if everything, every moment that happens after this just turns into rainbows and butterflies?) Anyhow – my current question of the day is; is it really, really always inevitable that at some point you choose your career or love?

You might need a little backstory for this even tho its probably super clear.
What if both of your goals is to stay together, and eventually live in place X.
However you currently reside in place A, one of you hates it, the other one can manage. To get to place X is nearly impossibile unless you live in place A for about 4 years, OR if you go to X anyways but with absolutely 0 money.
What would the decision be?

Without even going into the details you will most likely always arrive to the same conclusion as I did; choose one, regret the other. There is no win.
Do you gamble and pick love?
